THE HISTORY OF SPARKIES
Grace Savage is the Principal of Sparkies Nursery School. Her youngest child was in need of a nursery placement - as a registered child minder and having worked in the maintained and non-maintained sector nurseries, she had a good idea of what she was looking for. However, after exhaustive searches, nowhere seemed quite right. Most nurseries had too much reliance on formalised teaching. After discussion with her husband and family, Sparkies Nursery and Pre-School was born.
Sparkies opened in a church hall in 1999 with just three children, the name inspired by a quotation from Foster C McClellan:
"Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement."

She is an Early Years Teacher
She has a wealth of experience in all aspects of the provision of childcare and education.
She directly oversees, and can be consulted on, all aspects of your child’s welfare and progress at nursery, as well as any financial, business or staffing matters. She is fully qualified and has over thirty years’ experience working in the maintained and non-maintained sector before opening her own setting Sparkies!

Engaging with children's play, by experiments and exploration is just magical this is how we learn. The smile on each child's face when they learn to complete or understand the link for the first time, their happiness is just contagious!
Working with children is a vocation you have to be passionate, and must come from the heart!
I was first introduced to Sparkies as an Apprentice. With the help of my mentors I was able to master and excel. Sparkies is not just for children, it is also a place for students, we learn by encouragement and my confidence grew and grew. I am an Early Years Educator, part of an incredible team of people who care. Care about giving children time to talk about their feelings, to discover and learn about new things, to create and explore our wonderful environment, to excel just like I did and will continue to learn and discover new things!
